Hi,

I have a Belkin adsl wireless router.
Over the last week, we have been having constant problems connecting to the internet.

On bringing up the Belkin Management console page, I have noticed that the status keeps changing from connected to disconnected.

Trying to reconnect, I have to make numerous attempts until I am finally successful.
Regardless of operating wireless, or with a cable, the problem is the same.
I have reset the router twice, but this has made no difference.

Is there something else I can try?

Regards

Munchie

    Hello jje,

    It's a F5D7632-4

My service provider was tiscali, and now it's changed to talk talk.

I'm snatching at brief moments when it stays connected for a brief while to check everything. It's ridiculous how long this has taken me to submit

This has been going on for a few days now.

Do factory reset on the router and then reset up with all your details .

Problem can be A your router dropping connections or B your Internal line or C your BT line .

I would go to the Talk Talk users forum as you will often get better quicker help .

  • I'll try and give TalkTalk a call.
I used to be with Tiscali, but ended up now with TT.

The connection issues are now worse than ever.
I sit on the Belkin management page, and can be pressing the connect button upto a dozen times, before I finally get it connected, then I have a connection for a few minutes, If I'm lucky, before it's lost again.

Purchased a new filter, to emiminate that from the equation, and connected it directly into my NTE5 socket, with nothing else connected, but still no difference.

I've done the router restart option, but a little loathed to do the factory reset option, just in case I have forgetten how to set up all the security aspects.

    regards

  • Just got to the stage where I am considering a new service provider.

Finally proved there is nothing at all wrong with my router, and as suggested. the appauling service is down to TalkTalk.

Not once did I have a problem with Tiscali, but all my connection problems are down to being moved onto the TalkTalk platform.

It appears TT wish to take all the time in the world to restore any form of service, as at present, my connection lasts seconds, and cannot be considered a service, and I seriously doubt that I would be compensated for the lack of one.

I think I need to start shopping around, for a new provider.

It may not be Talk Talk at fault >> Exterior phone line to the cabinet/pole >>> Underground phone cable to the exchange >>> BT connection at the exchange then Talk Talk .

As i said Talk Talk user forums give best guidance to save you jumping from one supplier and ending up with the same problem and or as well ask Talk Talk to test the line .

Are you on a Talk Talk LLU exchange and was it Tiscali LLU before .

Dont get me wrong i am not saying its not Talk talks fault but their are a few factors in play before it gets to their connection . Mine drops out a lot in the winter nothing to do with Talk Talk its the underground cable that was disturbed when water pipes replaced .

  • I was convinced the fault lay with the equipment within my home, but apparently not.

After failing to get a reply to emails, I finally got to speak to someone this afternoon at TT who confirmed it is their network causing the issues, and they could see the history of my connection, or lack of it.

The response seems to be, wait and do nothing, while they deal with migrating the Tiscali customers onto their system, so not to cause any delay. It's extremely frustrating, but not the end of the world, and will just consider the options.
