    So what is the problem?
No matter how hard you try, you can't make £100 if you only get £65. See the problem.
    *SIGH*

    How about this then..

son at his parents and on the phone ''mum i am on the phone to the insurance company and my card won't go through, can i use yours?''

No, insurance for what? Why isn't your card working? Hang up and find out what the problem is........and then call them back.

It's not a coincidence that he called when he was at his parents....it's a ruse.
If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.
  • If he gets £65 a week JSA and he (hopefully) pays his mum £50 board. How can he manage to run a car on £15 week ? as well as other expenses.

mum has no choice but to say ok as long as he pays her back.

She better not hold her breath

Of course she has a choice, that's a ridiculous comment

How about you say, sorry son but I don't have enough on my card to pay for it, you'll need to leave it until you can afford to pay it yourself.

When you say he has lost his job, do you mean he's been made redundant or has been sacked?

You can give her the advice that HB/LHA isn't payable when the lodger and landlord are close relatives living in the same property sharing amenities and recommend she gets him to hand over the majority of his JSA for his keep but you can't give her a backbone or stop her son from scrounging. There's no way he can run a car and meet much in the way of any other expenses on £15 a week so I don't think she'll get much from him as he sounds selfish and she's a soft touch.
