You are looking for a Basic Bank Account which doesn't issue a visa debit or Maestro card.
Have a look at the table on pages 6-7 of this booklet.
I wouldn't normally recommend them but the Santander Basic Account might suit you.

Dire customer service, lots of people with bad experiences.
BTW: You already know this but look for professional help, doing it on your own will be possible but you'll do better with a support network around you. You can also ask that you are barred from gambling sites.Santander are awful - mission in life is to warn people since 17-Sep-10, 18-Sep-10 realised one of thousands.0 -

Santander have a poor reputation for customer service on these boards at the moment.
If HSBC suits you, I would go with them, though they have a lot fewer branches in Scotland (and you might need to open the account in person)
You can use Link machines to withdraw cash as well as Post Offices but may have issues paying in non electronic transactions to HSBC due to the lack of branches.
Santander will have a lot more branches..

An instant access savings account with RBS will give you a cash card only.0

As already said the HSBC basic account gives you a cashcard - http://www.hsbc.co.uk/1/2/personal/current-accounts/more/basic-bank-account
My dad had this for a good few years and it was good for him.
Edit: you can also request an application pack on that page or using this link - http://hsss.hsbc.co.uk/sendmeabrochure/index.jsp?brochure=91770-2~Basic
So looks like you don't need to go into branch.0 -

Hope you can track down the right account for you.
I can only echo what has been mentioned here: the gambling is probably not the actual problem. There is a problem which is at the root of the gambling addiction and you could look at tackling that.
I used to pump a fair bit of money into fruit machines in my youth - more than I should have, and some of it on credit card withdrawals.
You didn't come here for a lecture and you've already worked out you need to stop yourself.
Not having a debit card is a positive step however you may eventually find a way to circumvent even that, because you're clever and can find a means. If you put that same energy and intelligence to identifying the root cause..
Maybe easy to say on a message board full of strangers; harder to do. But you can do it if you allow yourself to.0 -
