I seem to have just £58 interest credited after a year of paying £250 is this correct?
If your balance before interest is £3,000 then it appears that you must have paid in the first £250 early in October 2010 and all other payments at the end of the month (eg second on 29 November).

out of interest, what are people planning to do now the accounts are maturing?
For me, I will see what the top savings accounts are around then and probably transfer the money in there.

The first direct 8% account looks a good option to continue saving regularly.

Mine has matured today - £65.81 received (net).

    Seems about right ...

    3,000 x 0.05 x 6.5 / 12 x 0.80 = £65.00

My First Direct 8% has also matured today - £124.93 received (net).

    Again, seems about right ...

    3,600 x 0.08 x 6.5 / 12 x 0.80 = £124.80.

The Lloyds account changed automatically to EasySaver and I moved the balance to Vantage.

The First Direct account is frozen and I need to wait 3 - 5 working days for the money to be moved and for me to open a new one! Apparently the 8% account is going to remain available for some time yet according to the employee I spoke to.

I rang FD a few days ago to clarify the closing procedure - they said you can call to get the money moved immediately

The call centre couldn't do it so they transferred me to another department who could. The money is now in my 1st current account.

However the nice lady who did the transfer and closure of the regular saver said that it will still take 3 - 5 working days for the account to disappear from my account list and I won't be able to open another new account til it does. Hopefully it will still be available at 8%.

If the rate drops to 5% I probably won't bother.

    EDIT:

Just applied online and got a new account at 8% for another year (e-mail confirmation received).

Thank you. Your application is successful and your new account is open.

The £300 initial deposit has also been taken from my 1st account.

They don't train their staff as well as I thought!

The maturity proceeds, less this £300, has been transferred to Lloyds Vantage to earn 3%.

Any savings account except the Regular Saver or Regular Saver ISA will do.

I would choose the Everyday e-Saver, which is their current main easy access saving account.
