vodafone port unusually slow?

i got an iphone sim only deal on thursday instore. i gave them my pac number etc. moving from o2 to vodafone.
on friday i received a text saying the port will be done on monday "today".
my o2 phone went inactive this morning at 9.20am and i am still waiting for my number to work on the iphone.
my iphone just says "waiting for activation - this may take some time"

anyway ive just rang vodafone and they said the number is ported ok, but the sim needs to be activated on there system??? and it could still be inactive untill 8.30am tomorrow - omg :mad:

does this sound true? surely it should be done straight away. disappointed as ive been without my phone all day. and maybe all night at this rate.

Usually takes abut a couple of hours whenever I've done it but they warn about 24hrs. Saying that the sims I have had have been active with a 'wrong number' before switching to the correct number.

Guy at work had issues with his Vodafone and Sim Inactive message, but couple of calls sorted it out.

Turning the phone off for a while (a few minutes) and then back on can sometimes quicken the process...

Your not alone, I'm in EXACTLY the same boat. I'm told that they are unusually busy and the system is slow and that it should port by 8pm.

It's never been this slow to port between other networks before!

When mine finally ports I still have yet another hurdle as I need them to transfer again to a micro sim to work with my iPhone 4.

So far very unimpressed with vodafone !

Just off the phone to them was told exacly the same 8PM tonight after doing the runaround on the automated system :mad:

BTW i got this number off saynoto0870 its a voda freefone number 0808 0408408 then option 2.

Yeah checked saynoto0870 too. No way I was going to pay for the 0870 number . Thanks anyhow!

Fingers crossed that they sort it by 8. Hopefully that's not what time they all go home!
