Flights to the states in the 6 week summer holiday

How much am I looking at for the cheapest flights to the states in the 6 week summer holidays 2011? I've had a quick look but not all airlines have opened their bookings yet. Looking for around 3 weeks to pretty much anywhere from pretty much anywhere in the UK. I'm guessing New York or Philadelphia will end up cheapest.

Any tips for finding cheap flights in at this time of the year? Any good websites?

Many thanks,

What are these six week summer holidays you speak of?

    Why haven't I got any?

"from anywhere to anywhere" is a fairly open brief!

July/Aug is peak time on all transatlantic routes. I'm just guessing but Chicago might be slightly cheaper as it doesn't get so much tourist trade.

Do indirect flights bother you? If you don't mind the inconvenience then there can be some good prices on KLM via Amsterdam or Air France (<<shuddder>>) via Paris. if you are coming from a regional airport then it's little different to connecting through LHR.

You may find that flying to Los Angeles or San Francisco is much the same price, and the cheaper car hire in California may help too.

Do your sums first to check!!

I'm aware of that. It's just that Amsterdam is less bothersome airport to connect through than CDG.

I don't either - my girlfriend is a teacher though so I don't have any choice about when we go - worst of both worlds!

Just as an example I paid £460 this Aug to Vegas, with Virgin, at the moment the same flight for Aug 2011 is over £700. It looks like there wont be many cheap flights next summer.

Cheapest west coast flight I have found next summer at mo is £680
  • Thanks guys. Best so far for those interested are £480 to Montreal on Swiss Air from Manchester.
