Please help.
Over the past few months I have recieved emails from a UK-based company from whom I had previously purchased items.
I have used their 'insubscribe' link at least 5 times but stil recieve emails from them.
My response has been to inform them that I will charge them £10 for every email sent after the date that I last attempted to unsubscribe.
Am I within my rights to take this action & has anybody else attempted a similar strategy ?
Many thanks

And you will be able soon to tell us you have made millions of pounds from your thoughts.
Better still, invest in a spam filter, normally provided free on various websites.
Also, i note most unsubscribe links actually are about as much use as a chocolate fireguard, as they actually corroberate the email account.0 -

Of course you are.
However getting them to pay up is another matter.
Let us know how you get on.
p.s. I am charging £10 to everyone who reads or replies to this reply.0 -

Well..sick of the vast mountain of junk mail etc that I come home to each night, I am doing the same with that, posted 4 enevlopes back to various places yesterday. At the very least, they have to waste their time reading my letter!Dogs have owners...my cat has slaves...0

Probably not as much time as you are wasting sending the letters.0 -
I threaten companies that don't leave me alone with the Information Commissioner.
Though they have to send me more than 4 emails to annoy me. They have to send me loads of stuff which Oxfam does.
You have to write to them via recorded delivery as when you do raise a complaint with the Information Commissioners office you need to prove that it's highly likely the company got the complaint.
I've not yet had to take a company to the Information Commissioners office so it's seems to work even with Oxfam.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

so how much does that cost compared to just throwing the unwanted mail in the bin?

Hello Garibaldi.
I have just a question for you,how would you justify trying to get Ten pounds out of them for every email sent to you after a certain date.I could understand if there were some osrt of admin charge, but you are basically taking it upon yourself to fine them even though you have no authority to do so.
I fully understand that you are hacked off after recieveing constant emails from them,i just get the feeling they will laugh at you for sending such an email and persist in sending you more in the future.Forum spellcheckers are the pitts.0 -

Im sure this works really well with companies operating outside the uk/eu.
