Need more RAM - but have a problem

I would definitely NOT go buy windows 7 and put it on struggling pre-2006 maxxed out hardware. If you only want to do simple stuff look at reinstalling/cleaning junk off the PC to restore it for basic surfing/office tasks etc.
If you want to do anything more demanding i'd think about a new PC (with Win7 pre-installed and included in the price....)0 -
I would say that because you are looking to run a game on it and it is running out of RAM then you definately need more RAM and I think it is wrong to say that upgrading to windows 7 will help.
you can try to clean your system up now (prevent startup programs as mentioned above) if that doesnt work then if you were to upgrade to win7 then you should do it with a new PC.0 -
I suggested an upgrade to Win7 as the machine came with Vista on it, so is unlikely to be a struggling pre-2006 model. Most machines that can run Vista have the power for Windows 7. Rarely is there an easy/cheap way to get more performance without buying new hardware but worth considering the options.

Could you just change the graphics options to a lower setting on the game itself?
This may stop the RAM issues. Wont look as pretty but at least you can still play the gameSmile and be happy, things can usually get worse!0
