Hi, I know you have gone a little bit past having a look at people's suggested dresses on this thread now - but I am having a destination wedding and had the exact opposite problem to you - I wanted a traditional wedding dress, but none seemed suitable. I tried on the most beautiful dress from Benjamin Roberts which wasn't traditional enough for me, but I suspect may offer a comprimise between yourself and your partner - have a look - http://www.benjaminroberts.co.uk/5070-p-678.html
Hope it helps,

One of my ladies went to Hawaii and had a Amanda Wyatt full length lace gown. She looked amazing. Sequins picked up the sunlight beautifully. Traditional but comfy without the 'full' skirt.0

how about a grecian Jenny packham type dress? still 'traditional' but more comfortable maybe, and a compromise? there was a fab one on dont tell the bride last night!

that is a very lovely dress!
I will look at everyone elses, i need to set some time aside and go through them. What i'd really rather see is everyone in their dresses. I think proper people look better than the models they put in!!
I was having another look online last night and h2b said that the ones that come below the knee are fine, just not the ones shorter than that. He's such a fussy sod!saving up another deposit as we've lost all our equity.

I have to be a bit careful because of my shape, Ive got rather big norks, and a short body, so when i've looked at some of the grecian ones they make my norks look even bigger, which makes me look bigger.saving up another deposit as we've lost all our equity.

Don't go for empire line. Makes a heavy bustline look bigger as does halterneck.
I would try a v neckline. This is lovely.0 -
