Second Hand Textbooks

Hi

Can anyone point me in direction of a good second-hand book site (other than amazon) - we need 4 business management books - and these will come to over £150:eek:

Thanks

Have you looked at the internal notice boards at your Uni? Lots of more senior students try to off load their used texts on the younger ones...

Some of the larger chain high street booksellers (especially in university towns) often have a second hand book dept too...

  • I find the on-campus bookshops usually have second hand books in stock. And check internal student forums as well as the relevant message boards around campus.

However... be very wary of different editions. I'm not sure about other subjects but i'm doing law and sometimes textbooks that are just a year old are no good whatsoever.

Also... if you've a half-decent library on campus, check the availabilty of the core texts relevant to your course. 1st years especially are very quick to buy everything on their book list immediately, while 10 perfectly good copies gather dust on library shelves. If there is no demand you can constantly renew said books (i can even do it online with my uni) all year.

End result: I bought 1 book this year for £25, the rest of my list is on a year-long loan from the library for diddly squat! I have saved close to £300 by doing this, hope it helps.
  • try http://www.abebooks.co.uk/ they are excellent for second hand books i have got all my text books from them for the past 3 years and have got some of my postgrad books there as well:beer: if you are desperate for books the sellers always try their best 2 get them 2 u. in 2nd year i was desperate for a book on the salem witch trials and the only copy in my price range was in las vegas so i sent a message to the seller to say i needed the book asap and 3 days later it arrived from the states:T . i have ordered loads of books from them and have never had a problem (fingers crossed)

If the link it helpful you can tell your class about the special sale day.
