Variable Digital & Analogue Coverage in Central

We are due to switchover to Digital in March 2011 (Nottingham area). We have had digital for sometime but can only get a handful of stations with good reception all the time (Sky News, Sky 3, Dave and Price-Drop.tv), others are intermittent, and ITV, Channel 4 and Five are non-existent. We rely on Analogue to watch BBC1 & 2, ITV, Channel 4 and Five. However, for the past week, some of the analogue stations have had a very poor signal and are unwatchable. We also get intermittent banners on the top of the analogue screen advising on the digital switchover.

1. Are they now trying to discourage us from watching analogue by screwing up the signal?
2. If so, why haven't we got access to the digital equivalent, especially as the digital signal is excellent for Sky News etc.?
