It would be better to know a bit more about your requirements first.
Why did you find hostdime rubbish? I've never heard of them, which isn't usually a good sign (although there are exceptions to that rule) - did they have a lot of downtime, were they slow, etc?
It would be useful to know:
* How many sites are you planning running? Just one site?
* How much bandwidth are you expecting to use? Is your site likely to hog resources? If you don't know the answer to either of these, could you tell us what kind of site you'll be running? This makes a big difference when it comes to hosting - if you're running one fairly small site, you can get good hosting for around $3/month, or $36/year (coming in at around a quarter of your budget), but if you'll be using more resources, you'll need a more expensive package0 -
I have not had any problems with using FreeolaForgotten but not gone.0

You've not given a preference for the Server Operating System (Windows or *nix) and PHP will run on either platform. For compatability with the majority of packages out there I'll guess at *nix and recommend Zen - who I use (I'm new so I can't post links)
www . zen. co. uk/business /hosting-and-domains / web-hosting . aspx
Full featured, PHP/Perl/MySQL The Bronze & Silver accounts will do all you want, you can park multiple domains/aliases and service/pricing is really good. Plus - there is room to grow and upgrade as you need. Not connected with Zen, just a happy customer.0 -
Thanks for your help, I've decided to give one called icebluehost a go after having it pm'ed me by mrchagle, seems to be what im looking for:j1: Lloyds Loan: 1900/0 --- 2: Lloyds CrCa: 700/800 --- 3: Lloyds OveD: 500/0 --- 4: BoS OveD: 500/0 --- 5: Clydesdale OveD: 500/0 All overdraught facilities cancelled0

Does not look very good when you are greeted by an invlaid cert error at checkout!
Looking at it from chrome and firefox both say its fine, no invalid cert messages1: Lloyds Loan: 1900/0 --- 2: Lloyds CrCa: 700/800 --- 3: Lloyds OveD: 500/0 --- 4: BoS OveD: 500/0 --- 5: Clydesdale OveD: 500/0 All overdraught facilities cancelled0 -

Using firefox here and: https://clients.icebluehost.com/cart.php?gid=1
gives me untrusted connection.
Not many posts in their forums either.clients.icebluehost.com uses an invalid security certificate.
The certificate is not trusted because the issuer certificate is unknown.

If I were planning a new host I'd want to pay monthly at the beginning in case they didn't live up to the billing. Paying yearly up front is madness in this industry!Mortgage free I: 8th December 2009!
Mortgage free II: New Year's Eve 2013!
Mortgage free III: Est. Dec 2021...0
