Sky+ Box to LG with Freesat

Is it possible to connect my Sky+ box to my television

I have a single LNB lead coming into the house that plugs directly into my Sky+ Box

We have recently bought an LG LF7700 television that has a Freesat tuner intergrated into it

Is there a way to enable us to still use the functions of the Sky+ box but also take advantage of watching free to view HD television through the freesat tuner

As I understand it you can't split a satellite feed like you can a regular coax tv feed, so no you can't would be the answer. You'd need a separate LNB feed to the Sky+ box and the Freesat input on the TV.

Simply replace your LNB with a quad and wire it to the relevant inputs on your TV and Sky+ box.
That gum you like is coming back in style.
  • If the Sky+ box was installed by Sky, there should already be a quad LNB on the dish, so it would just be a case of running another cable from the dish to the TV.

Indeed it was the single feed to the Sky+ box comment that was odd.
Suppose OP could have confused a shotgun twin cable for a single feed.

Shows you how much attention I was paying when I read the original post. I didn't even notice the 'single LNB' part. :D

Bit more clarification from the OP needed then.

Since the OP asks 'can I still use the functions of the Sky+ box', then they must already have had a twin feed from the LNB in order to be using Sky+ before they bought the Freesat TV.
So all that is needed a is a third feed (assuming that the LNB is already a quad) in order to use the Freesat tuner. Though if it's got to be recabled anyway, I'd put in another twin feed in order to accomodate a Freesat PVR in the future-the extra cost would be negligible.

To the OP, the LG 7700's don't work with BBC iPlayer, so don't forget to claim your free Humax Freesat box as well:

  • The dish is right up on the roof of the house so cant get to see it
The system was installed by Sky engineers (height team)

There is only 1 cable going into the Sky+ box as far as i can see - will confirm tonight when get in from work

Also who do i contact to claim my freeview box?

It was a Freesat box, presumably you contact Lucky Goldstar.
PS If there is only one feed to your Sky + box you would not be able to record one programme whilst watching another.

Then get hold of a pair of binoculars and look at the dish to see if it has a quad LNB.
If your existing digibox has only one feed connected then you cannot be using all the Sky+ functions on it., i.e. you can't record one channel while viewing another, you can only record what you are watching Are you sure it's not a shotgun cable (twin feed) with 2 F connectors on the end of it?
