Wonder ?? if any one can post info on free fitting of bulbs ( and back it up with the ad).... south of Watford.

Theres no ad, we dont have to do it, its not a "service", its nothing to shout about, its not company policy, its common courtesy, we do it because we can and its keeps the customers coming back. Its nothing special but that just shows how little you have shopped around. I also know another factors in my area to fit bulbs for free time to time. I cant speak for every company, even every store, but it happens.

I suppose, at least halfords are consistent in ripping you of every time;)

Funnily enough were not all out to rip you off, you seem to have trouble comprehending that.
    Back by no demand whatsoever.

At the end of the day its MSE, and nothing about halfords is money saving, no matter who i work for.

As for professionalisn, the trade slags them off all the time, hence the name halfrauds. Places dont earn common nicknames like that for no reason.

That doesn't really help though, if the customer wants it fitted every time. Halfords do, they advertise, they charge, they get customers.
If you adverise free fitting for everything you sell, and do it every time, I bet you would get the customers in though.

That ill admit, but thats why i say shop around. Due to the flock effect, where by the average joe goes to halfords due to brand familiarity, small independents and family groups like mine need to compete on quality, service and price. If just ones fails people go halfords. So id be amazed if there wasnt just one factors near you that offered this service for free when you ask.

Amazingly its slowly becoming official, but more so for our sister company.

To be honest, if a customer is polite and asks, i always do fit it, or send them to the sister company next door and they will do it FOC.

I still stand by my very strong views of halfords. Its not as if its without substance.

I popped into my local garage cos one of the brake lights on my Nissan Note wasn't working and I couldn't get the rear cluster out.

The guy popped the cluster and changed the bulb - didn't charge me a penny not for the bulb or the fitting! Admittedly I've been using his garage for a few years but that's how to build up customer loyalty!

Personally I wouldn't praise Halfords for taking minutes to fit a bulb and then charging me £5.99 for the pleasure.

    I would feel ripped off.
  • I work at Halfords largest northern competitor

Go on, I double dare you to reveal who that is.
We can all slag them off too!:)

I wonder if it is the one that had a reputation that made Halfords look perfect then went bust and was resurrected ?
