Hi all, gutted I missed tea and bourbons (my fave!!!!) however I've been "googling" like mad tonight to see if I can find anything about the MRS vs Spending Review..... have read some news which at first seems shockingly good for us MRS wannabe's but then you think about it and realise why..... well, this is my interperatation of it anyway....

They're making cuts in social/affordable/housing benefit etc left right and centre and yet they are ploughing £200 MILLION into MR!!!:j but then you wonder why..... if they cut or abolished the already expensive to have been set up in the first place MRS, then tons get repo'd and it's left down to cash-strapped LA's to rehouse these families in what - less housing than is around now??!! Plus by keeping families in their homes means that the local HA's are actually GAINING in rental cos us MRS'ers are paying only 20% less than the going rate in the area whereas social tenants pay LOADS less - a small example, I live in Surrey which has very high rents - I know someone who lives in a 3bed semi council house in an affluent village and pays around £430pm for it.... if we wish to stay in our 2bed maisonette thru MRS we will only pay 20% less than the around £850pm it would cost to rent privately!!! It seems I'm not the only one who thinks this - read this article published online around 5hrs ago (put in browser as link cos I can't post it on here!):

So could it be that the new Gov will actually be encouraging the use of MR?! Does this mean that my application might now actually start to get processed by my LA - ie I've had a feeling they've been putting it on hold until the news from today - hopefully this will now give them the go ahead after 3mths of doing nothing!!! I'll be writing to our MP if not!!!

What is everybody elses take on this?!
