South Africa SIM ..info please

Last time went to SA hired a vodaphone SIM at airport. Ended up costing a small fortune...whilst incoming calls were 'free', voicemail and domestic outgoing were expensive and international was even more than if roaming. Nor did I ever get the itemised bill paid for.

Does anyone know if there is a cheap PAYG SIM (like the virgin ones here) in SA? ...

thanks
Sarah x

i used my virgin sim on roaming whilst in SA for a month and bill was £60, didnt really skimp on using it but didnt hammer it either.

You can go into any phone shops in SA and buy a sim on their network, which may be easier.

There is currenlty 3 mobile operators in SA , vodacom,Mtn & CellC
i would say that CellC is probably the cheapest provider for PAYG , just go to any mobile shop & get a starter pack & some airtime , int calls is verry expensive esp from a mobile , it might be worh gettinga A Telkom Int calling card, for cheaper rates.

ok from a south african's point of view!

I was in Sunny SA last month, and the best to get is Vodacom Sim you can find it at any pick and pay or spar till point, they cost about R10 and then buy a voucher for R29 or R55 bobs ur uncle

Texts are 80 cents and phonecalls abit more expensive
To text the uk will cost R2.40

Thats about it, dont bother with MTN or CELLC they are good but the sim packs are expensive
