i cant seem to find anything that comes close to matching the virgin mobile tariff deals right now... can anyone else?
the one im probably going for is:
£25 per month
300 mins / 300 texts every month
free voicemail
free itemised paper bill
free samsung d900 (or similar snazzy new phone)
18 month contract
is there anything from other networks that can match or beat this?
and is there any reason not to go with virgin mobile?

This is the deal I saw and challenged Orange to pricematch, except it's a 12 month contract if you buy online, not an 18 month one. I spent a good 15 minutes on the phone to the man from Orange who went through a million and one other tariffs that bore no relevance to this deal. I told him I was not interested in an 18 month contract nor did I want 500 texts but he continued to offer me irrelevant tarriffs. I asked him repeatedly if he could pricematch this offer but in the end conceeded he could not, even though I have been a customer for several years. I was not very happy to say the least so I asked to be disconnected and he gave me a disconnection date of 16th October. At this point I asked if I should put it in wirting and he assured me no it was fine. Imagine my surprise when I rang up yesterday (nearly 3 weeks later) to ask about the possibility of getting a porting code, to be told there was no record of my previous phone conversation or of a disconnection request, I argued and argued but to no avail, I have to wait another 30 days before they will terminate my contract  It's a bit ridiculous of them to suggest there is no record of the conversation as surely they could check my phone bill?! This time around I have got a reference number, and a name and asked them to put it in writing but I am not a happy bunny.
Anyway I digress, this is the best 'non-cashback' offer I have seen around, and am thinking of going for it myself if I can ever get disconnected from Orange but I may go for a deal on e2save through quidco £35 a month on Virgin, 12 month contract for same (300 mins, 300 texts) but 1st 9 months @£0.99 redeemable by sending in your 4th, 8th and 12th (I think) airtime bills back to the company. I have done a deal like this years ago with dialaphone and it worked out fine, I just hope the offer is still there by the time I manage to end my contract! :rolleyes:0 -

as far as im aware, if you go for the 12 month contract you might have to pay £30 or so for the top few handsets... 18 months means they are all free...
carphone warehouse couldn't match it either!0 -

Oops sorry, I was going to go for the Sony Ericsson W810i Walkman phone, word of warning though, the man in Carphone Warehouse said he wouldn't reccommend the D900 as lots of them were being brought back to the shop with faulty displays, but I only have his word to go on. It does look like a great deal though and hopefully their customer service dept will be a bit more cop than Orange0 -
faulty d900's? i don't like that idea... im actually not that big a fan of the phone but its the best of what they've got for me... i want the samsung z540 really!0

does anyone know if virgin mobile handsets are locked to virgin or have any virgin branding on? the d900 didnt seem to.. so maybe the sony ericsson w850i i was looking at wont either...

Just to let the op know - if you're a Cable customer (Telewest or NTL) you can get a Virgin Sim for £10 per month, (300 texts / 300 mins). The only thing you might need to purchase is a suitable phone. (for which you could buy a pay virgin phone, then just use the £10 virgin sim in it!)
If you are able to go for the sim only option + phone, you'll find that you'll make a substancial annual saving on the cost, compared with the £25p/m deal you origonally saw..
hope that helps.0 -
You can also get it for £15 a month if you use your own phone even if you are not an NTL customer.
You will also be able to get free broadband with this deal saving about £14 a month so you will be paying £1 for your 500 texts and 200 mins or 300-300The measure of love is love without measure0 -
thanks for that... i was already aware of the ntl deal but we dont have ntl so its not an option.... we were thinking about changing isp though (ours has become awful) so the broadband might save me a few quid....
anyone know if virgin broadband is any good?0 -
