A stamped envelope...for a suit???? Please will you come and pack my Ebay items for me Soolin? I've a feeling you could save me a fortune at the Post Office...

Sorry but I really didn't think I needed to be specific on a board where most of us sell things, a generic email to the seller should hopefully elicit the correct sort of envelope.

OK, for those who do not sell, the 'stamped envelope' should be one suitable for the item that will be carried, in this instance one of those large plastic mailing envelopes will be sufficient, I don't think I need to be specific about the make ?

Poor seller, he opens a new account all exited about his first sale and what happens, it all goes wrong and he thinks he's been scammed. In disgust he closes his account and vow's never to use ebay again.
I would contact him stating it was a post office mistake and try to come to an arrangement with him. His email address will be in your paypal history.

    where was the mistake?
    the item was insufficiently packaged
despite this it still got delivered undamaged
and its Royal Mail that does delivery............

The poor seller only has themselves to blame, anyone daft enough to think that a brown envelope is sufficient packaging to send a suit through the post, deserves it to all go wrong.
I think it ever reaching it's destination intact is pretty good going.
Maybe if they can recover from their disgust they will realise that the post office handled it all really well.
I'ts sellers like this who then make claims from RM for lost post, no doubt we all then pay extra postage for their lack of thought.

I bought a hardback book from an ebay seller a while ago, they were fairly new and I got a real bargain. It arrived in a single 'business' style manilla envelope, it was all torn open and held together in a plastic Royal mail bag and elastic bands.

I complained to the seller and her response was that ebay only allowed her to charge £2.75 postage which barely covered the actual stamp price, and if I'd wanted it packed better I should have offered more money for proper packaging!

We can do without sellers like this to be honest.

Starting it at a price to cover the shortfall just doesn't seem to enter some peoples brains does it?
I wonder if some sellers think that their one package gets moved from place to place on it's own, rather than being chucked into a huge cage with tons of other stuff, if they indeed think.
Maybe for lost post RM should start asking how it was packaged & in the cases where it was totally inadequate the claims should be turned down.
It could be Royal Mails tax on stupidity.
I find clothing wrapped in brown paper has often torn & had to be repackaged, or the sellers use so much tape that I've cut items trying to remove the tape, that's frustrating. It must also add quite a bit to the price of postage.

It was only meant to be a light-hearted comment! I just had visions of a suit squashed into an A4 paper envelope. I didn't mean to upset you. Sorry :(

No sorry, I was a bit grumpy. I had a buyer leave a neutral for no real reason and I had an annoying buyer who emailed me 4 days after I sent his item to tell me he had moved and forgot to tell me so what was I going to do about his item?
