Had a bizarre letter through the post claiming that I had been in a service station from 1730 ish until 0850 ish the following day.

The 'photographic evidence' is a car on a road with no time date. This quite clearly does not support the claim.

The claim I left at 8am is simply laughable. I have evidence that I was back home at 1655!

Advice : shall I respond and provide evidence or simply keep quiet and hope that they will go away? It seems that most other forums and threads state that they can not enforce anything on you anyway.

I'm more concerned that what they are doing is illegal and falsifying evidence. With photoshop I could provide more evidence that my car was 'anywhere' at such a time.

Just ignore them, they are trying to scam you
Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?

Of course, it's just a picture of a car. Not of the driver or the registered keeper.
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?

Listen to the advice on here and totaly ignore them.
I got a letter in April from a firm called Trethowans acting for CP Plus, saying that I had parked wrongly in a place I have never been to ever. I came on here and took the excellent advice offered and totaly ignored the letter. We are now in October and I haven't heard anything else at all. If you get any more letters from them or anyone acting for them, ignore those as well, they may threaten you but nothing will come of it.

Some PPCs just purchase random number plate addresses.

The more letters they can send out, the more people they can scam.
  • I now have another letter

Being as though I was in my office at the time of the claimed offence and being the nature of our business I was personally dealing with national newspapers as one of my staff was working at the Ryder Cup, I actually want to go to court and let the newspapers do stories on the terrible lies and scam that this is. The company is a faceless organisation. At the stated time of departure I would have had to travel at 145mph to reach the location for a 0930 appointment the next day.

I so want to challenge them and annoy them but I have better things to do!

    Thanks for the advice.

However can I sue them for making totally false claims and trying to scam money from me?

Far better is to ignore them completely and to spread the word on this scam to as many people as possible.

Often this is just an ANPR failure.

One of the unspoken aspects of ANPR is that it is error prone, some go as far as to say it does not work.
  • To all legal people out there...

a person at RoadChef who I wont name will nullify this notice for me, saying I am certainly not the first and suggesting their systems do not work.

Is there any law I could use to retaliate in being threatened, wrongly accused with falsifying evidence to give this faceless bunch of morons a little headache?

Why in this crazy age of political correctness, understanding and where the is a blame there is a claim should I be the subject to although laughable, but terrible, threatening letters that would worry some people and bully them in to paying. They have falsified evidence, made wrongful claims and threatened to register bad debt against my name.

As a professional photographer the evidence they have provided is simply laughable! No IPTC info, I would even suggest that that one file has been digitally altered.
