Cannot Move From Eon Electricity Mpan Problem

E10 has 2 reads and works as per E7 (times differ as it's designed for non-storage heating systems.
Warmwise/Heatwise/Super Tariff/Comfort Plus/Super Deal have a 2 meter/2 MPAN system with three reads.
THTC/Comfort Plus Control have a 2 meter/2MPAN system with two reads.
All pre-pay protected systems have a two-element meter, as no-one wants to feed monies into two meters.
As with everything in the industry it depends on where you are in the country. In the eastern area most E10 meters are dual mpan with 3 rates (1 mpan/rate dedicated to the heating circuit). The E10 meters that seem to be installed nowadays in most areas are 2 rate on a single mpan and have 10 continuous hours off peak (9.00pm - 7.00am).
Heatwise systems used to have 2 seperate meters but nowadays just have a single digital meter with 5 rates (but still 2 mpans). I've got a heatwise meter at my home (no mains gas) so I've had to learn how they work!!!0 -

Getting abit fedup as I am unable to get our electric moved from expensive eon rates , tried Scottish power and southern power but they told me as the meter has a two mpan numbers and they cannot offer the same tariffs as eon (5 different reading) economy 10 heat wise
Sorry to moan Many thanks
Hi joebloggs
I suspect you have a Heatwise meter with Economy 7 rather than Economy 10.
Heatwise with Economy 7 has 5 different readings. The day and night rate on the usual domestic meter; plus readings for the water/heating usage which goes through the separate Heatwise circuits.
The Heatwise part will include three individual readings for usage during the cheaper evening and afternoon periods as well as usage through the boost facility.
Heatwise sits alongside the conventional meter, either single or two rate (Economy 7). One MPAN is for the conventional meter, whilst the second covers the Heatwise.
There's already some excellent advice on here. Thought I would just add; you can have the meter changed to a usual domestic type. This will allow you to change supplier easily.
However, I always advise customers to have an independent electrician check over their system before going down this route. This is because Heatwise is wired directly into the water/heating circuits at properties. Changing the meter may have implications in these areas.
As others have said, different suppliers may well be able to offer a tariff to accommodate your set up but you will need to talk to them individually to see what is available.
Hope this helps a little joebloggs. Give me a shout if you need any more info as will be happy to help.
