That's what I discovered. Lots of links to info on the phone but little on the case and everyone using the one photo of an empty case which doesn't tell me how it is used.

Thanks for the suggestion. I may have to do as you say and ring up and ask. (Not that I have much faith in any information provided verbally by a salesperson ).

Don't spend a lot of money on a special case. Look around at alternatives eg spectacle cases, even children's pencil cases. OK you have to take the phone out to use, but this is no great effort.

instead of a pull cord in every room, you can get a pendant that if you fall, sends an alarm to a box. good for epileptics, but also good for old people if they fall down and can't reach a pull switch.

I ordered a case for the Doro 338 from RNIB for £17.99 inc VAT delivered by First Class post. (£21.37-£33.01 from various traders on Amazon).

I tried a soft spectacle case but there was too much risk of keys being pushed by accident and the emergency button would have been inaccessible.

The leather case is as seen in the photo except for the badge which is now a circular stud with a logo. The rear of the case has a leather strip stitched across the width to allow a belt to pass through holding the phone horizontally. The front has a magnetic catch. There is a small hole through which the emergency button can be reached. Otherwise the phone has to be removed from the case to make or receive calls.

No use to me now, as mum already has her Doro phone, but I noticed on Friday that Lloyds pharmacy is currently selling a large button Binatone mobile phone billed as suitable for older people , and it's a lot cheaper than mum's Doro. It looks pretty good.

good to know they are out there, when i was looking a few years ago couldn't find anything simple. shame they are at such a stupidly high cost. it's a growing market and the prices are abusive.
