Mobile phone suitable for older person?

My elderly Mum recently had a hypoglycaemic attack whilst out shopping, followed by a very nasty fall on the following day. No serious damage done, thankfully, but her confidence has taken a big bashing. In an effort to help her maintain her independence, I bought her a mobile phone to carry when out, the simplest, most basic one I could find, (Nokia 2330) but they are all so tiny and unnecessarily complicated these days! Mum is a technophobe, and her eyesight is pretty bad too, so she is struggling with it.
I've googled the topic and there are phones especially designed for older people, but reviews are mixed, so I thought I'd enquire here.
Any recommendations please?

Yip I agree about the Doro phoneeasy, I got my 72 year old mum one 3 months ago and she loves it. Really large separate numbers on the keypad, and the volume can be turned up extremely loud! It's recommended by both the blind and deaf assoc. Lovely burgandy/dark pink colour too!! Got mine on Amazon if you don't want a contract.0

Thank you, the Doro phones are the ones I've seen advertised online, it's good to get an opinion from someone who actually has one.Official DFW Nerd No 096 - Proud to have dealt with my debt!0

I have a Doro PhoneEasy and it's a cracker. Big buttons, big easy to read screen, volume control. I bought mine from Connevans, this gives all the info and the picture of the phone is lifesize so you can see for yourself what the buttons are like http://www.connevans.com/information/40gsm410%20datasheet.pdf.................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

The Doro phones come in various styles. Have a look at this website to see variety.

My Downs Syndrome sister uses the most basic Doro Phone and is competent with it. Doesn't do anything other than send/receive calls.0 -

If her sight is a problem, she has a few options:
- look on the RNIB site to see what they have
- Vodafone do phones which use a piece of software called Talks. Mostly Nokia phones - these, are simple (imo) to use.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

Is she worried about being home alone too? You could check out a pendant which can be worn all the time and pressed for help.0

Thanks for your help everyone.
I have ordered the Doro handle plus 334, with the 4 programmable buttons. It will be perfect.
Mum lives in sheltered housing and has an emergency pull cord in every room. She fell whilst at home, but wouldn't pull the cord as she didn't want to make a fuss!
I've persuaded her to consider moving to a ground floor flat in the same scheme. (She currently lives on 1st floor and there's no lift, so she has been housebound since coming home from casualty last Sunday).Official DFW Nerd No 096 - Proud to have dealt with my debt!0 -

It is possible to purchase combined phones and alarms.
