Hello everyone . Welcome to the weekly spend challenge. This challenge is open to anybody, no matter what financial place they are in.

On this thread please post an amount of money you wish to stay below within the week (Sunday to end of working day on Friday). This can be pennies or thousands it depends on the individual. Then next Saturday report back and pledge for the following week. Feel free to update this thread with daily spends if that keeps you on track. We colour code the results as below:

Green - within budget
Red - overbudget
Purple - zero spend
Yellow - made money over the week

This is a little bit of fun but for many it highlights the fact that maybe that magazine/chocolate bar isn't needed. Hopefully your spending habits can be changed forever.

Moozie was the founder of this challenge and here is a quote taken from her around last year

The challenge is about incidental spending and not for stuff that should be budgeted elsewhere such as bills, groceries, debt repayment etc but you decide what to include at the end - this is about changing your habits and improving your recording of your spends more than anything else. Have a great week everyone and keep it low!!! Moozie x

Good luck everyone.

    Evening budgeteers,

I was green for last week as I spent £6 on breakfast and lunch. I am going for £50 next week as I have dinner with a friend planned for Monday but nothing else on the rest of the week.

I am glad we don't count Saturdays as I spent a humongous amount of cash today as I needed a new laptop and new house phones :o But the laptop is rather shiney and does things at super-highspeed so I am pleased:D

Enjoy the rest of your weekend:beer:

  • Hello everybody!

It's a while since I joined this challenge - fell of the MSE wagon big time over the summer. But I'm back and I'm serious this time. Well about money-saving anyway!

So I have to go to London for work on Wednesday, and although I will get it back on expenses I need to start counting that money because I comes out of my account and I don't see it again for a couple of months. I used not to do that, which is one of the (many) ways I would come unstuck with my budgeting.

And it's been an expensive weekend, so I'm going to be strict with myself.

£30 for the London trip (travel and lunch) and £10 for me. So £40 pledge please Pointy.
