Does your original Sky box work when plugged into the original dish feed you used for Sky subscription channels?
If so you can just use that to get the Sky free-to-air channels. You don't need a Freeview box or an aerial to do that.

EDIT - the page you linked to is incorrect in its information.

Not being pedantic at all.

You did say Freeview channels and you were wrong no matter whether you specified all or some.

You possibly meant FTA channels on the dish.

Freeview cannot be received through a dish.

It is possible that the OP does not have an aerial in which case a Freeview box is as useful as an ashtray on a motorbike

BBC1 is a freeview channel
BBC1 can be received for free through a dish
therefore some freeview channels can be received through a dish

I see you have had a little edit since my last post. You have changed your stance I see.

Some channels that are available on Freeview are also available as FTA channels on Satellite.

This does not mean that Freeview is available through a dish - as it is not.

Stance hasn't moved, yours is all over the place, as are your edits. I elaborated on the the logic as you couldn't understand "some", but now appear to accept than some "freeview channels" are available through a dish.

Can't you look for another thread to interfere with? There are 1000's to choose from.

As the OP was struggling with a Freeview box I was highlighting the difference between the two systems.

Didn't mean to step on your toes and I apologise, perhaps my wording was poor.

Some of the info on the link you provided is incorrect tho as it suggests you need a card for some of the channels listed - and you don't.

OP, are you in your own house or a block of flats? If you're in a house, do you know if you have a satellite dish and an aerial? If so, do you know where the dish and aerial are connected to?

If a dish IS connected to this socket, and you're not getting a signal via a sat box connected to the socket, then the most likely scenario is that the dish isn't aligned properly. Has it worked at any stage?

From the picture, you appear to have the socket removed from the wall. Is there a cable at the back of it? Where does this appear to go?

More information would be better than less....
