Bumbo - cheaper on eBay but some babies hate them (my DD was one and I paid full price for one, waste of money!).

Activity station/jumperoo - most seem to love them but they do take up quite a bit of space.

Baby carrier - sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do and 4 months was about the time I ended up using one so I could make dinner.

Door bouncer - my boys loved it, DD didn't think it was because we now have lamenite flooring and she just slid so ended up just hanging there, bored. Plus they need good head control and somedegree of body stability.

Quilt on the floor with loads pillows - usually ended up being the best option, strategically placed so they could see into the kitchen.

My daughter was/is exactly the same. I got a jumperoo hoping it would entertain her, but to be honest it was a waste of money. She didn't want entertaining by anything except me. She's now 15 months. She is better in that she will come round the house with me while I get stuff done, but she still has her episodes where she will only quieten down if I carry her around with me.

I agree with Skinty, although it's hard on you, they are only tiny for a short time so make the most of the cuddles. That's what I did, I don't want to look back in a few years and just remember it as a miserable time because I couldn't vacuum, tidy or whatever.

I too found the Jumperoo a waste of money. It was also rather dangerous imo, as my 2yr old would swing from the arch on the side and many a time i caught it as it tipped! Activity Stations seem alot safer!

  • i had a indoor battery operated musical swing for 2 of mine, bought 2nd hand it was fantastic! it had different speeds and the seat sat up or reclined, so to stop bab crying i had it on a faster rock with music whilst upright and when they feel asleep it could be reclinded and slowed down :)
One day I will live in a cabin in the woods
