I get my tax credits on the current year, but my sons are 7 & 8 now.
I'm sure my neighbour started off on previous years earnings, but as she was on SMP she changed it to current year too.Payment a day challenge: £236.69

No, but the father should be paying for the child he helped create firstly, with the taxpayer paying only if necessary.I was born too late, into a world that doesn't care

You go about it by asking the father to contribute towards his son/daughter!0

You wait till the baby arrives and then you'll be given the forms. You'll need the baby's birth certificate to claim anything.
It would be nice if just once someone would ask what they should get from the state *after* agreeing a maintenance amount from the father.I was born too late, into a world that doesn't care

Its amazing how helpful people can be without knowing individiual peoples circumstances. I didnt want to discuss the ins and outs of my past relationship and thought i had provided enough information where someone could offer advice without jumping down my throat.
Doesnt matter as clearly I am in the wrong for being a single parent-to be.Now a mother to my beautiful daughter OliviaBorn 10th Dec 2010 weighing 7lb 1oz

To claim anything from the governement you need to wait till the baby is born.
Plus you can get maintenance from the child father to top this up, you will need to ask him for this or go via the CSA
For claiming the childcare element you need to be working 16hours plus to qualify, you let tax credits know the day they start nursery/childminders and how much you are paying per week. Depending on your income they will pay upto 80% of the cost and you pay the rest. They will not help beforehand with paying the deposit for the fees0
