Broken Blackberry
Hi,
My girlfriends Blackberry Curve is starting to really play up. The keys are starting to press a few at a time, making texting and entering numbers a pain.
We'd rather not send the phone away for repair, but as it is under a year old, should we have it replaced on the spot anyway?

No, it will only be replaced if it is under 28 days old I think. It will have to be sent away for repair if you want it fixed.Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0

I thing it's 6 months, but after that it's repair/replace but it's down to the dealer not the customer...0

Thats not quite correct, the consumer gets the choice of refund/repair/replace, the retailer can refuse the remedy if it is disproportionate to another remedy (please note that cost is not mentioned in the SOGA here), but on the consumers side is that any remedy must not cause significant inconvenience.0 -

Most retailers will give a loan phone while it is being repaired though on payment of a refundable deposit, so repair can't really be argued to inconvenience the consumer.Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0 -
it can quite easily with a blackberry if the loan phone does not have the same functions - push email, BBM etc, etc.0

I probably has pie, crap and other stuff stuck under the keyboard.
I strip these phones down every week and they're easy to take apart and clean. Here's the strip down for the Bold but the Curve is jsut the same.

Thanks for the replies.
Might give it a shot at cleaning it out myself. If not, we'll send it away.0 -
