did u actually read my post...this was not about going over my limit ,more so the fact that tesco cc moved their goal posts but didnt alter mine, now if that is fair in yr little head so be it ,its just not fair in mine
If you hadn't gone over your limit, you wouldn't have suffered the default charge(s).
Simples "Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -

i accepted the fact i went over the limit what i didnt accept is the fact because the start of my next period fell on a sunday(5th) the applied the interest and charges on the 3rd(fri).they then charged mmr for being od for a second period from 5th to 30th . and not the 3rd -30th therfore putting me od in 2 periods rather than one charging me twice for the same thing .Always remember that you're unique, just like everybody else:cool:0 -
so its ok 4 them to start their new period on the 3rd but mine starts the 5th
There is only one date...the statement date...which will vary month by month as you have found out.
For future reference, the "estimated interest next month" figure is only relevant under a certain set of conditions, which are explained on the statement itself. If you continue to spend, whilst not taking this into account, then you always run the risk of going overlimit...especially if you're running your finances so close to the wire (for which I'm sure you think you have a good reason to do so).
And finally, all credit cards operate this way...not just Tesco.0 -
.bunch of t****.now if that is fair in yr little head so be it
There's no need for this kind of abuse, especially towards another memberif banks/cc companies were made to update their systems instantly (not in their intrest to do this) then things like this would happen less.my bank doesnt apply charges this quick why should tescos be allowed to.
Wouldn't updating their systems instantly mean they applied charges instantly too?
From what I can tell from your OP is seems that Tesco charged you for a legitimate reason (which you accept), then you got stung again because they'd processed it early and it overlapped two payment periods, and now you've got it resolved and refunded, so why all the anger? If you think of it as 'us' verses 'them', then it's probably your side that are the villains.0 -

i put this up to make others aware ,and the anger is ,i spent over an hour resolving it, and thirdly this kind of thing gets my goat .Always remember that you're unique, just like everybody else:cool:0 -

.
no they charged me once for going od 3rd -5th (as it was the 3rd i went od due to early interest been applied) then again for being od 5th -30th the next period instead of 3rd-30thAlways remember that you're unique, just like everybody else:cool:0 -

last month i was charges £12 od fee because my interest put me £4 over the limit
You reckon that's bad. My CC provider once charged me because the interest sent me 8p over my limit. I did get the charge refunded but it was of course my own fault for sailing so close to my limit on statement day0 -
YorkshireBoy wrote: »The only reason you got it "resolved" is because it was cheaper for them to do so rather than spending time telling you why you got the two charges (by referring you to your T&Cs). Others may not be so lucky. But it won't happen again now you know how it works will it? Thats another result for you.
cant quite see how refering me to T&C would have resolved it .
where will it say we can move to the earliest working day however you can still stay on a sundayAlways remember that you're unique, just like everybody else:cool:0 -

In essance though, debits (ie purchase transactions, charges, interest, etc) and credits (ie your payments, refunds, etc) are applied at the start of the day...and the statement is closed off at the end of the day. Therefore you'll find it very difficult/nigh on impossible to avoid 2 x £12 charges for a single overlimit breach of your T&Cs when interest is applied at close of business on your statement date (as it always is).0
