Is there a better phone for around £150? What would be the next best?

Are you using a memory card or not?
With most phones, you can choose which memory is used (phone or memory card). That should cure your problem - i.e. there is a setting to choose which is primary memory.

Looked on my e63 and as its a Nokia, it might be same on 5800.
If your phone memory is running out, then you can clear the cache.

The "primary memory" setting is storing images and videos (and on my e63 its under the Camera -> settings). You can also choose to install apps onto the memory card and not phone memory.

There is a guide here on freeing up space on the 5800 http://nokiafanboy.com/2009/05/14/how-to-free-up-your-5800-c-drive-space/

I bought a Orange San Francisco £89 (can be got for £79 if you're lucky) and I've just sold my 5800 (fed up with it being slowwww) to Fonebank for £84, posted Tuesday 5th Oct got cheque Fri 8th Oct.

San Francisco is way way better than the 5800, especially if you want to use internet, exception is the camera

I am off to buy one later on today, looks amazing for the price. And if you work for the NHS, you can get £20 off!

Use the external memory whereever possible, 10mb is low, if my handset goes under 30mb I delete stuff off the phone, messages , emails and mms are the main culprits for using up the memory, if you have added apps, ensure those too are installed to the external memory card.
  • You may also want to delete text messages- my E71 gives me errors when i've sent too many
