Reclaim PPI from NatWest

Hi,
I was wandering how banks or FOS decide on complaints if it is just word of mouth. If I just tell them series of events that happened on the day when I went to take out the loan and I was mis-sold or forced to take PPI. I know banks know themselves but I am not sure if they will admit it unless there is some other issue attached to it like someone was self employed, long term sick etc at the time when they were taking out the loan which is not true for me.
For me the bank just completely said no to taking out loan without PPI but there is no documentary evidence for that and then I eventually signed a ppi contract with loan.
Thanks
Hiya
They take a look at both sides and make a decision from the details you have given them and any details they may have.
If the loan was actually taken out the last 6 years, the banks MUST keep data for at least that length of time.

Hi di,
got a reply after 8 weeks and they sent the same letter again asking for more time and no time limit is given when it is likely that their investigation will complete.
is it not possible to ask them for a deadline otherwise they can take years if they want.
plz suggest something. Do you know if NatWest dont give deadline but normally give final response in X weeks
thanks0 -

Hiya
Did they mention anything about the Financial ombudsman service (FOS) this time with the leaflet?
Your able to go to the fos now if you want to, and even though the fos have backlogs of complaints, it may be worth contacting them and see what they say.
Good luck.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"

Thanks for your reply, yes the leaflet is enclosed
I think this is the new strategy instead of declining the complaint they just want to keep on writing the letter saying they are still investigating.0 -
Hi
I am back
I contacted FOS and they said just fill the two forms and send it over to them and they will start dealing with it.
I thought before sending things off I should call the bank and ask and they said to me we have completed the internal investigation and will probably contact me soon. I said can you give me an estimate as you deal with the situation quite often. The person taking my call said all I would say it will be in weeks not months.
What should I do?
Thanks in advance for all the advice you have given till now.0 -

Hiya
And your most welcome x
The decision is yours of course, but if you want to maybe give your own timescale, say for example another 2 weeks and if you hear nothing then move on to the FOS.
You may receive a decision then with a bit of luck, and you do have 6 months from the final decision anyway to complain to the FOS.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"

Hi Ahsan
I would follow Di's advice and wait a few more weeks or you'll be waiting many months with the FOS. From personal experience, they do normally take at least 12 weeks before making a decision.
Good luck, hope they don't take too long and it is good news for you!
