Reclaim PPI from NatWest

Hi All,
First of all I want to thank everyone on this forum for helping all the people like me. Although I haven’t posted anything about PPI but I was reading these post for a long time. I have made a claim against two of my loans.
I have recently received a fourth letter from Natwest which is after 8 weeks since I first made a complaint. They have asked for 4 more weeks. I was looking for similar cases on this forum but couldn’t spot anyone in similar situation. The letter states something like.
“At the present time, I am continuing to gather information about your case, so that I can send you a full response. This means I have not yet completed my investigation. I hope to let you know my findings within the next four weeks, but if this is not possible I will let you know.”
What should I do now? The envelope also contains a leaflet from financial ombudsman but there was no mention of it in the letter. I can wait for 4 more weeks but I fear that they might say again we need 4 more weeks as there is no deadline.
I will be grateful if someone can guide me whether I should wait or forward this to ombudsman.
Thanks

Hi and welcome
This is standard for most banks - asking for more time, also due to backlogs.
I would personally wait unti the extra 4 weeks, but they have to enclose the details of the FOS with the leaflet to give you that option of taking your complaint to them, please be aware though, it may also take some time with the FOS too.
Hopefully you will hear sooner rather than later with a good outcome, fingers crossed.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"

Thanks di
should i write a letter to them saying i am willing to give extra 4 weeks on the top of 8 weeks but i will not receive final response with in these additional 4 weeks i will refer my case to FOS.
I am just thinking that if they decline to pay back then i will have to go back to FOS after waiting for so long.0 -

Hi there
As they have already requested for the 4 weeks, then you need do anymore, but see what happens by 4 weeks.
And if you hear nothing by then you then continue to make a complaint to the FOS.
However, its up to you if you did want to send them a letter now or not.
The FOS "may" also state to wait to hear, because your complaint have not been ignored and they have kept you informed.
If your complaint was totally ignored (like some people's have been where they hear no updates), then I would say move on to the FOS now.
Its up to you of course.
Good luck and please let us know when you hear from them.
Cheers.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"

Thanks alot di
I will take your suggestion and see what happens in next 4 weeks0 -
I checked the letter again to see what date it was written and it turned out that it was written on 20th September and it has reached me in 3 weeks for some reason.
It turned out that it was a request to allow them further 4 weeks to complete the 8 weeks investigation period0 -

Hi there
So the letter you received was dated 20 September and they requested for a further 4 weeks from that date?
So this takes it to the 18th October then.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"

Hi,
I was wandering how banks or FOS decide on complaints if it is just word of mouth. If I just tell them series of events that happened on the day when I went to take out the loan and I was mis-sold or forced to take PPI. I know banks know themselves but I am not sure if they will admit it unless there is some other issue attached to it like someone was self employed, long term sick etc at the time when they were taking out the loan which is not true for me.
For me the bank just completely said no to taking out loan without PPI but there is no documentary evidence for that and then I eventually signed a ppi contract with loan.

Hi, the FOS requests the file from the bank (everything) and then they look at your evidence against the banks evidence since the sale and decide which view to take.Hi,
