Band A is the lowest Band and has a value range of 0-40000 in 1991 so im afraid it cant be too high.
The amount charged looks higher unfortunately as the amounts charged on the band dont normally go up at 100% incriments.
Also each 'self contained dwelling' attracts a seperate council tax band - if the property is converted to flats you would normally find that it is marketed/sold as flats0 -

Can i ask a stupid question? are each of the flats banded as a band A by the VOA or is there one single band given to the property by the VOA and the council are just charging you each a band A Price? Also are these flats self-contained? or do you have shared amenities such as bathroom, kitchen? As depending on what your property is depends on how you go about challenging it.0 -

If your in Band A for valuation then the only way to go is up - you cant get a lower banding (unless you get disabled band relief)I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0

its amazing. everyone wants an open and fair system. so if your appeal increases someone elses, they should be informed who didit. it is the usual case of people wanting wanting fair play, but not willing to stand up for it!!!!!!!!0

I had my tax band reduced from E to D a couple of years ago after a long battle with the council and received a refund. Since water rates are calculated against your tax band, is it possible to recover the overpayment made to the water board because of the councils error?0

Remember that the sites people are using only give rough values for 1991 prices, you would need a proper valuation to be done to get the correct value - the VO will do this if you appeal and they decide to consider a reduction.I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. some advice please i bought house 1996 value £46000 band c my nxt door neighbour in exact house but she was tenant with local council was a Band B i queried it with valuation office they said it was right. Last year 2006 i stayed at a band c and my neighbour went up to a band c for 10 years i payed a higher band but now we are the same. should i try and claim money back?0
