FreeSat HELP....

I have had Sky (old house) in the past and then moved to Virgin, but now I have decided to cancel and go FreeSat HD with a recorder feature as I mainly just watch Channels 1,3 and 4 and itv2.
I don't already have a satellite, so i need to get one installed I have been looking on the net for best prices, the best I can find is John Lewis £99 for installation (2 wires for the recorder) and the dish included.
I've seen threads regarding having Quad lines or something ( I don't really understand)....Can Someone please help or give me some advise...
Thank you in advance for sparing me your time to help, it is much appreciated

If it wasn't for the mistakes I made in the past (and learned from), I wouldn't be who and where I am today. It doesn't matter if you've cocked up, what matters is that you put it right and apologise. x

Thats a good price, just watch the quality of the cabling, neat and tidy etc..
Quad =Quad lnb, a part of the dish that you connect the cables to.
The dish will probably come with a quad if you are having two feeds run down never see a dual/twin lnb any more.0 -

Quads are the usual fitment if they are using Sky type minidishes (they haven't made duals for Sky dishes for over 8 years) BUT dual lnbs are still readily available and widely used for standard shaped dishes with the 40mm collar fitting.0 -
£100 ish is about right for dish, cable and installation. That's what we paid and also my parents who live 50 miles from us. Both done through local installers.0

Feel free to get a quote from local aerial/satellite tradesmen, who may be able to customise the job better and depending on how difficult the house is it might be cheaper. Obviously the £99 covers all types of installation. As above, get a quad LNB and get 4 wires running off it (2 of which will be needed for the freesat recorder, at least into your roofspace or something, so that you can add in the future without having to touch the dish.0

Hi,
The channels you want to watch are all available on Freeview.
So I would have thought you just need to use a Freeview box and connect to the exiting aerial , which I presume is there.

Hi,
Here are list of Freeview Channels.

I understand that if you get Freesat then you will not get some of the freeview channels.
And same applies if you get Freesat
