Am I Allowed To Do This?

Evening all,

I have recently completed my 12 month contact with 02, which I got through Mobileshop and 12 month free line rental deal, and am now on a 30 day rolling contract for which i will have to pay £30 for at the end of the month

My question if i were to take up a brand new 12 month free line rental deal, would I be able to take a new deal through mobileshop/e2save and stay on O2 as well as keeping my same number, or would I have to change to another network provider i.e Orange/Vodafone

Any ideas would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Munky

You would have to first get a PAC code from your current contract provider. The PAC code is a code which you can then give to the provider of your new contract and they will then port your number into the new contract. However, if you are on O2 at the moment and want to get a new O2 contract you would have to port to a different Pay as you go provider first, i,e, orange or vodaphone and then port it back into the new 02 contract. Networks do not alllow you to port your number within the same network.

If you are currently with o2 direct you should be able to port to o2 cpw (through e2save, osps or cpw) as it's a different service provider.
  • I'm currently with 02 thorugh mobileshop, and in all honesty I'm probably going to end up taking an 02 contract through mobileshop again. I already have an active Orange PAYG sim, could I transfer my number to that or do I have to get a brand new PAYG sim?

thanks for the quick responses by the way..

Yes you could transfer it to that pay as you go sim. However once you transfer it from the pay as you go to your new contract, the pay as you go sim will not work anymore.

I think when you say you are with O2 through mobileshop you mean mobileshop are sold you the phone and contract as to my knowledge mobileshop are not a service provider. Which is good as O2 are both your service and network provider unlike with crappy CPW who offer very poor service.

Best option is to buy a cheap payg sim, T-mobile sell them directly from their website for 50 pence including P&P, then port your O2 number to the sim then back again to your new O2 contract.
