    Fair enough, I wasn't charged anything for putting a new line in when I moved. Which we had to do, as we couldn't get any accurate details on the existing one at the time from BT.
    So I wasn't aware of the costs of putting a new one in. That said, it wouldn't ever have crossed my mind to use one which I knew was being paid for by someone else.

    Yes I agree that the previous tenant shouldn't have left it, but that the new tenant shouldn't have used it either!

    The new tenant had no choice, as they were prevented signing up to a suitable ISP of their choice due to the stupidity of the previous tenant, who was obviously trying to avoid paying early termination charges.

    The account holder is fully responsible for all charges - end of.

    yes, and as the OP has had to wait some months before getting their own broadband account, if they move out when the 12 month tenancy is up they may be left paying early termination fees which they would not have incurred if they had their own broadband account from the beginning!
