You can appeal the decision.
You say that you have tried 'several times' - don't just submit another application (at least, for the next few months) as it will come back with exactly the same answer. Appealing may or may not give you the result that you want.
Otherwise, opening and using (well) a Halifax current account may help your standing with the bank.0
