Help for my Nan

Need some advice for my nan that has arthritis. Last week she had an accident at work while helping a customer. A large metal plate from above her head fell on her she jerked back to avoid it hitting her head but it landed on her leg area where she had arthritis. At the time of the accident there was a manager together with another work colleague in the area of the accident.
After the accident the manager there at the time said to my nan ‘what you doing, breaking the company equipment’! this manager did not even ask my nan if she was OK! The other colleague that was also there with them said to my nan ‘go and report it to another manage’, whcih my nan did and this time that manager said to her that she would get her a first aid person to see her.
After about an hr had passed and no first aider came to see my nan my nan colleague if anyone had seen her my nan said ‘no’ she was then adviced to admin office and report it and get a first aider to help.
My nan went to the admin and after making enquires from several people there she finally got someone to take down a note of what had happened but no first aid help. The person that took down the note of the accident on piece of paper told my nan that it would go into the company accident book when he got time to do it. There was no first aider available there so my nan went get her bag to see if she got some pain killing tablets, but had none' Luckily another colleague was there and gave my nan some tablets to take for the pain. None of the managers asked my nan if she OK and there was 3 of them around at the time.
My nan carried on working until it was time for her to go home but that night she was in great pain and could not go into work the next day. She did not go to her GP as she was treating it herself putting ice on the swelling to keep it down and taking pain releif tablets. I think she will need to go to see her GP as she is still in pain. I have told her not to back to work while in pain and she should go and get an x-ray of the injury that she receivd at work.
I am encoluraging her to go and see her GP next week and not go back to work until she is free of pain and she should get a certificate to cover for the time off work. Is this the correct advice for me to give her.

Never mind next week, get her to go there today. If she is in pain there is a sign that something is wrong. She is not doing herself any favours by delaying, She can self certify her sickness absence for the first 7 days, after that time she needs a 'fit note' from the doctor, but she should really go as soon as she possibly can.
When the accident was put in the accident book your nan should ahve signed it to confirm it was an accurate, has she done this.
the company seem to breaching H & S Rules, make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
This accident happened last week and she still has not been to the doctors?
(Crossposted - really shouldn't sit with several screens open!)Gone ... or have I?0 -
By not seeing a doctor after the accident, your Nan has given the company a chance to say that her problem is nothing to do with work. As their other practices - no accident book and no first aider - are so sloppy, the chances are they will try to wriggle out of any responsibility for her problems.0

No, all that was done after waiting along time, she was advised by a coilleague to go to admin and report the accident and the person who took the details said that it would be put into the accident book but norfe if that was done. Nan was not given anything to sign and does not know if the accident went into the accident book.
I will be seeing my nan tonight, should I follow this up for her in writing stating what had happened describing how the accident happened and also say that my nan was not given the opportunity to see the details in the accident book and was not able to sign the accident book to confirm the details entered therre are correct.
I will try and get my nan to go to A&E tomorrow if she is still in pain and have an xray done
It seems to me nolw that the the conpany does not want to recognised that the accident had happened0 -
Should I start to compose a letter for my nan to sign tonight and send to her eemployer stating the events of the accident and for her firm to confirm that it is in the accident book.
Or should this be [FONT="]a grievances instead.

A&E is for emergencies, this is not an emergency so she needs to see her GP.
I am a little confused as to why your Nan cannot sort this herself?Gone ... or have I?0 -
She is over 60, lives on her own and has been in a lot of pain last week and has knocked her for six and made her very depressed. As her granddaughter I feel that I should help her as much as I can....I cannot see anything wrong witn me trying to help her.0

Wishing just tell your gran to go to her GP and then take it from there.. it might just be bruising but she will need a certificate for next week if she is not fit for work... then she needs to check that her accident went accurately into the accident book.#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j
