Hi,
Just booked a trip to Paris for two nights for me and my girlfriend. This is the first time we are both going to Paris so am looking for some ideas and suggestions on things to see and do..
Budget is tight so any money saving tips will be very very handy
Thanks!
Edit: the hotel we'll be staying in is "BEST WESTERN LE SAINT-MAURICE"

We went last April and my now husband proposed to me on Eiffel Tower, deffinately recommend to go there with your camera, amazing views.
Then we liked it a lot around Notre Damme cathedrale, it is on small island and very pretty surroundings, little coffee shops and so on. Montmartre another beautiful little place to visit, it is small square packed with artists, lovely atmosphere. And it will not cost you anything to look around there.Best wins ever:
2012: Holiday to LA for 2 adults +2 kids for 4 days
2013: £2 000 Virgin Holiday Voucher!
2014: $1000 spending money for hols
2015: 8 night holiday to Thailand0 -
the catacombes are amazing but they may not be your cuppa tea - also they are not open every day so if you want to go check when they are open0

I did Paris a couple of years ago with G/friend.
The best way to travel around is by using the ParisVisite ticket, this will get you onto most services such as the Metro / RER trains / (certain) buses & SNCF trains.
Its very good value for money.
Another thing we did which we enjoyed was to go on the open top tour buses, these allow you to get off where you want and then jump on another when it comes by, be careful, different numbers take you on different routes, but these allow you to see all the major sites.
There are loads of sites to see; Eiffel, Arc de triomhpe, Champs Elysee, Concorde, L'ouvre, Notre Damne (stunning at night).
My personal favourites were; d'Orsay, Catacombs (although not good for squeamish or claustrophobic), the museum of Dali, and Picasso museum, Pere Lachaise Cemetery (lots of famous peoples gravestones).
But one of my highlights was the Chateau de Versailles. But you really need to set yourself a day for that.
For a really romantic evening try one of the late night boat trips, fascinating to see Paris at night.
Have a brilliant time0 -
If you are under 26 and have an EU passport you can get reduced or free entry to many national monuments - Versailles (free), Notre Dame bell tower (free), Musee d'Orsay (free), Montparnasse Tower (reduced price for under 20s) but I'm sure it would be the same for many places. However remember you MUST bring your passport as proof. A great cheap night out is to go to the Champs de Mars (grassy park in front of Eiffel Tower) bring a bottle of wine, spread your coats on the grass, and at every hour, on the hour, enjoy the beautiful sparkling lights. If you are lucky there might be a group of people with a guitar having an impromptu sing along. Magical and practically free!0

Quai St Louis (I think that's it's name, anyway) - cool to go and sit out on, watch the world go by. Take a blanket and a picnic!
Jardins de luxembourg - ditto.
In fact, picnic anywhere and everywhere - there's lots of little supermarkets/bakeries to buy the basics in. Paris eatery prices are mad.Reason for edit? Can spell, can't type!0 -
Don't know if you collect Tesco Clubcard points but if you do, you can exchange your points for some Paris attractions;
Montparnasse 56> £2.50 in clubcard points gets you 1 entry
AQUARIUM DE PARIS> £5.00 worth of points gets 1 entry
Vedettes de Paris> £3.00 worth of points gets you 1 entry
We used ours for Montparnasse56 which personally i thought was worth going to see.
Hope this helps.0 -
Have a walk around montmartre lovely atmosphere and sacre couer is stunning. Definitely do an evening boat trip along the Seine it is well worth it and if I remember correctly wasn't too expensive. Have a brilliant time.0

If you buy a one day museum pass you can use it until midnight to visit allof the museums and art galleries in the city. It has unlimited use so you can pop in the Louvre and say hi to Mona then wizz off to see the impressionists in Musee D'Orsay followed by posing next to The Thinker in the Rodin Museum. A short trip to Les Invalides to see Napoleon's tomb then a set lunch of a picnic sitting by the Seine if it is dry.
Pop up to Monmatre in the evening to wander round the artists quarter and have your photo taken outside the Moulin Rouge. Sacre Coeur is also lovely and offers great views of the city.
There is a museum in the Arc de Triomphe and you can go just before midnight for sensational views of the city.
Second night wander along the Champs d'Elysee. See the Eifel tower at night and wander along the Seine.
You can buy a carnet of tickets for the metro which is ten fixed price tickets for a reduced fee.0 -
The very best place to see the Eiffel tower is from the viewing floor of the Tour Montparnasse - it's not expenxsive to go up (Tesco's vouchers mentioned above), stunning views of all of Paris from the top, and you can take fab photos of people in your group from there - with the Eiffel tower as an impressive backdrop.Reason for edit? A bit 'off-the-wall' this, but take a walk up to the top of the Arc de Triomphe and watch the ensuing traffic chaos at it's notorious roundabout!
Hardly culture I know, but an unforgettable experience!0
