I'd like to join too :)

Put in three offers on a house, it's a nice buy but it doesn't suit us down to the ground really. I'm hoping to get it for just under 10% less of the asking price (that's a rubbish sentance, sorry!)

Seller had it for £75k more than what we're offering, so relatively speaking he's dropped over 25%, but no-one else is interested he's let all the clues slip that he's eager to move and has found somewhere else.

I don't intend to make another offer - if he doesn't snap now, there's not a lot of point due to the amount of work it'll require, but if he does I'll have lots of space and a reasonable sized garden I should be happy in for a number of years and an experienced DIY'r.

I couldn't sell my flat for what I paid for it, neither could I sell it for 20% less than what I paid for it, so I've put it up for rent. I've been lucky that I've rented it for pretty much the repayment mortgage value and I can still get a 2nd mortgage for the next house due to bank of mum and dad & barclays (never though I'd be positive about them...)

Ideally I'd like to be in for Christmas!

Heard this morning that my offer has been accepted! woohoo! cant believe i've just bought my first home :j:j:j

Just make sure that they stop advertising it. Get a friend to ring up and try to arrange a viewing. The last thing you want is to be gazumpped at this stage.

Congrats though! Hope it all goes smoothly for you!
  • Hello,
I am currently sitting in the land of : "What exactly does my solicitor do?" .
I have had an offer accepted, mortgage approved and survey completed AND nothing from my solicitor.

EA rang me yesterday and asked if survey was complete, confirmed it was and she said she will go gee up my solicitor.

I just send her an email to ask what progress had been made.

Its so frustrating waiting, I don't want to get excited until I get the keys.

Thank you - it is now listed as 'under offer' on the EA website, and luckily i think gazumping is practically unheard of up here in scotland. But will be keeping my fingers tightly crossed until i have those keys in my hand! :D
I got ham but i'm not a hamster.....
  • Congratulations Lauraland!
Parkiepo, I know the feeling well - my solicitors are already driving me mad with their lack of action and we've only just begun.
Signed the mortgage papers this morning.
;) Working hard in the hopes of being 'lucky' ;)
  • Congrats to those of you who have had your offers accepted!

FTB, had my offer accepted yesterday, property already removed from rightmove and the agents website, solicitor informed and mortgage lender has the property details. Feeling excited although a bit nervous too, will feel more confident once things start to proceed further. Fingers crossed the process goes smoothly for us all!

Just looked on rightmove and the EA has updated the details on the repo I'm trying to buy. I know that they have to keep on "marketing" it but given the problems with the house at the mo (which is why we haven't exchanged yet) and the fact that I've offered asking price, I kinda assumed that they wouldn't be doing anything to actively market it. The optimist in me says I shouldn't worry about being gazumped - chances of someone wanting to offer more and the vendor being willing to accept it when they've got a buyer (me!) on the hook aware of the problems and ready to exchange the minute they're fixed are pretty slim.

But then there's the pessimist who rules the roost and is determined that there is something sinister in the fact that propertybee is showing updates.

    Am I worrying over nothing?!
  • Does it not state sold subject to contract? That's what our estate agents have done with rightmove.
I don't think it's unreasonable to ask the estate agent to mark it as sold, but perhaps I'm being naive - our estate agents were happy to do so and on our letter that stated that our offer had been accepted, it also stated that the owners had asked the ea to stop marketing it.

Its a repossession so they have to keep marketing it until contracts have been exchanged. I think that means that they can't mark it SSTC either.
