contact loophole?

I have read somewhere that, in America at least, if your mobile provider changes your terms, you have 30 days to cancel. Does this apply in the UK? And does anyone have any further reading on the subject?

Many thanks.

  • Changes to T&Cs are covered in... the T&Cs. Minor changes are allowed but major changes (and it depends on what you or the network provider define as major) usually allow you to give 30 days notice and cancel. Getting a network to admit that they've made a major change, however, is another matter.

You can and they should provide them. On what basis do you believe the contract has changed?

I think they have upgraded my wifi allowance. My motivation is ending my contract

I know from experience that you can terminate an o2 contract if you suffer a "material disadvantage" (I think Voda have this as well)

If you have received some sort of upgrade at no extra cost then you would not be able to invoke this clause/reason.

    Is this a serious post?

They UPGRADED your allowance and you think that might be a reason to end your contract. I wouldn't waste your time.

An upgrade to your allowance can not be regarded as a "material disadvantage" as there is no disadvantage. The law is there to protect you from contract change to your detriment not to give you a free get out on any change.

    Or ours, for that matter.

Not a valid reason to end your contract, as this change appears to be to your advantage.
