02 simplicity - Can I keep this number when I change to a new 18 month contract?

Hi,

I have an iphone 3GS and the 18 month contract with 02 runs out next month.

I'm thinking of switching to a Simplicity contract where I'll be able to keep my mobile number and do this on a rolling monthly contract for 8 months, by which time the iphone 5 (or whatever it'll be called) will be out in June 2011 (I'm going to skip the iphone 4).

Will I be able to keep my Simplicity number and port it over to a new 18 month contract with 02?

Yes, because all you'll do is ask them to "upgrade" you to a 30 day simplicity contract. That way, you'll keep your SIM card and your number. You won't need to port your number. In fact, you can't port because you're staying on the same network. Then when you're ready to upgrade to a new 18 month contract with O2, just go through the same process again.
