They spayed my baby and she's traumatised

So upset this evening. As you may know from my other posts, Mrs Tibbs has been with us 6 weeks or so and is finally settling in.
She has become affectionate and has settled down really well.
She went to the vet today because her obsession with the fellas was getting hard to control and she is home but we are back to square one as she's gone back to her hidey hole with her big collar on and I think she hates me now.
No miaows, no sign of her since we came home.
I can hear her padding around upstairs because she is bumping into things, I don't know how she is going to tolerate having that collar on for 10 days.
I really hope she comes around and learns to trust me again, really sad and missing her rolling around on the rug watching tv with me.

There used to be a street named after Chuck Norris, but it was changed because nobody crosses Chuck Norris and lives.

Ahh poor girl. My cat was like that for a couple of days and we'd had her since she was a kitten. It was like she hated us. But take comfort from the fact that cats like to hide themselves away when they feel poorly, dont take it personally. Within 2 days she was right as rain and back to being my naughty little bee monster!
Also wanted to say... the vet didnt even give her a collar. She tugged her stitches once, realised it hurt and then never touched them again! What matters most is how well you walk through the fire0 -
I had to watch my youngest after he was done as for the first 24hours he kept falling asleep head first in his water bowl. He then hid under my bed only coming out for food, water and toilet for 2 days but was as right as rain after that. Give her a a week and she'll be back to watching TV with you.

Most cats don't need a collar, I have found they are more upset by the collar than the operation. If you have time to supervise her I would just remove it and see how she gets on.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

I've had dozens of cats, from 3-4 week abandoned ferals, who needed bottle feeding, to unwanted grown-ups
none of the girls required collars after spaying, even the one that suffered a heamatoma (bad looking 'bruising')
some of them were sleepy, which is quite normal, but perked up again quickly
I'm sure you cat will be fine :A
PS ... they always look traumatised at first

My cat Chloe was very down for a couple of days after spaying but my vet didn't give her a collar (and he is a very good vet), also my parents have had about 6 cats spayed, all without collars and back to normal the next day. I agree with Chez and think you should give her a try without collar under supervision. Collar or no collar, I'm sure she will be back to her old self once she has recovered

Don't take it personally and don't let it worry you - in a couple of days or so she will be right as rain.
The collar will be spooking her out big time, understandably, but you'll find that she gets used to it. You might even want to take it off and see how she goes without it (if you can supervise her).
We had both our cats spayed at the same time and made them wear the collars for the full ten days. They quickly got used to them and learned to eat and drink ok. They went a bit 'freaky' with each other (couldn't stand the sight of each other!) but that all stopped when the collars were off."Your life is what your thoughts make it"
"If you can't bite, don't show your teeth!"
R.i.P our beautiful girl Suki. We'll love and miss you forever

Mitzy was spayed about a month ago. She was sent home within hours of the op and although she was a little wobbly for the first hour or so, and tender to be picked up that day, she was as right as rain. The wound was tiny, stitches buried and surgical glue on the outside! No collar needed and vet told me to keep her in for 3 days...no follow up appt needed either.
So....I guess it depends upon the surgical technique used by the vet, but 10 days with a collar? Overkill!0 -

My dogs were a tad... upset when they had this. (Lab anyway, Collie's scheduled). She miffed with us for a bit, and it alternated between pathetic, accusing eyes- "Why?", and outright huffing- "I'm not talking, you're both horrible people." and sitting with her back to us.
She got given a few treats, and did pull round in a couple of days. Hardest part is not falling for the pathetic eyes- my partner was awful for this and gave her far too many treats....
She will pull around, just takes time.0
