Nokia 6300-reset security code to reset call duration counter?

Hi all,

Have a nokia 6300. Porting my number over to tesco tomorrow so thought I'd reset the 'dialed call counter' so I could be sure I don't go over my 500 minutes a month!

Now I know the 'standard' default security code of '12345' works for things like 'factory reset' but it does NOT work when asked for the 'security code' to reset my dialed calls etc...tried the other one too-'00000'. Any ideas how to reset this/get a new code?? If anyone advises any programme ro download please can you give me 'baby' steps...I'm a bit of a novice with these things!

Hope one of the 'experts' on here can advise...!

Thanks in advance!:)

The code to reset the counter IS the normal code. So I'm at a loss to understand why it isn't working for the counter but is working elsewhere.
Are you sure its working elsewhere on the phone. Is it possible you changed the code from the default?

Thanks for the reply! I can't remember changing the code but it's not beyond the realms of possibility!!! The '12345' deffo works on the 'factory reset' procedure but does not work on the 'reset call duration' thingy.....Are there any good programmes on the web that allow me to override all the codes? I know how to get my IMIE number...

If the code works for a factory reset but not to clear the counter then there is something wrong with the phone.
But doing a factory reset clears the counter, so its not a problem for you.

(by the way, there are no legitimate ways to 'reset' a forgotten code. The handset needs to be returned to Nokia, with proof of purchase for a chargeable repair. They will reset the code to the default 12345)
