    If his parent was British, he could have the right of abode. and therefore is entitled to a visa that would go in his foreign passport.
    i have no idea what status he has but by imagining he has been here for nearly 30 years his passport wouldnt be valid anyway. with the amount of time he has spent here he should have automatic rights i believe. i think you ca pick up passports at the passport issuing office too if you phone them up. i know before you could but this might be a different story with the IND involved too. another thing is if he has a foreign birth certificate then that would need to be translated too it can get very complicated. we have two dual nationality children
