Advice needed - holiday cancellation

My daughter is heartbroken as it looks like she wont be able to take her luxury holiday to Morocco in November due to her numpty boyfriend failing to get his UK citizenship and passport sorted in time.
I dont think this would be covered by their travel insurance and it looks like they are going to lose a lot of money unless they can sell the holiday or find friends to take it over.
As a last resort I will try and sell it on Ebay but I would appreciate any useful advice regarding whether there is anyway he could travel without papers or any comments on the travel insurance aspect.
Many Thanks

I dont know the full details, his mum is English his dad was foreign.
He has lived in the UK for many years but assume he has never gone overseas to need a passport up until now? His UK citizenship papers will not arrive in time for him to get a passport. He's an idiot for leaving it so late.
Did think about contacting the Moroccan Embassy and the Uk passport office but think it would all be a waste of time unless someone knows different?0 -
If he has a 'foreign' passport he might be able to get a visa for that passport from the Morrocan embassy, if the passport is still valid and has time remaining on it.
If they have booked with a tour operator they might let them take the holiday next year.
They need to check the terms and conditions regarding name changes and the cost of them before trying to sell the holiday on ebay.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -
Here's the Mococcan Embassy Website http://morocco.embassyhomepage.com/.
Most countries don't require a visa as long as there's 6 months left valid in their passport and it states that it only takes nomally takes 4 days to process a visa.
It's only the beginning of October and if the boyfriend needs to renew his passport, he should urgently contact the relevant consulate for his country. Consular services can issue new passports within hours.
If his passport has been sent to the Immigration and Nationality Directorate (IND) for processing his citizenship application, he can call 0845 010 5200 for return of documents. All local council's provide a nationality checking service so you don't need to sacrifice your documents to the IND as they are validated by the registry office, however, if he made a postal application, he would have had to send his docs to the IND and he is fully entitled to have them back and the above 0845 number is the one he needs.
Tell your daughter to not despair! Hope is not lost. She's just going to have to tell her "numpty boyfriend" to get his butt in gear and get it sorted!!!
Hope that helps!

i'm not too sure if he is the idiot or your daughter. you shouldn't really book holidays anyway until you have the necessary papers or documents0

Hey, no need to be harsh but yes, I agree you should always consider visa requirements etc before booking a trip but more importantly, Amazombie's trying to help get his daughter sorted and the situation is what it is so we might as well offer something encouraging that might help them get away on holiday (or rearrange/get a refund if necessary)!

Surely if his mother is English he would have dual nationality? Not an expert but just a thought that he would have British Citizenship if he was born in this country or his mother is English????
Life is sometimes a bit pants but occasionally you can wear your french knickers!

i was only quoting what she called him. she was solely putting the blame on himLondonCanuck wrote:Hey, no need to be harsh but yes, I agree you should always consider visa requirements etc before booking a trip but more importantly, Amazombie's trying to help get his daughter sorted and the situation is what it is so we might as well offer something encouraging that might help them get away on holiday (or rearrange/get a refund if necessary)!

The holiday was booked many many months ago and numpty has had plenty of time to get this sorted but he's one of those put everything off until tomorrow people so I'll hold my position that he's the numpty not my daughter :rotfl:0
