baby boiled potatoes cooked in their skins.
drain and wrap in foil then put in a tight lidded container.
  • Hot dog sausages will keep hot in a flask. Heat them up in a pan than drain, put in flask and add boiling water. Take ready sliced and buttered rolls, place greaseproof paper between to stop them sticking, plus tomato ketchup. I have done this many times, they always stay piping hot.

The last hot picnic I did was jacket potatos with chilli con carni.

I wrapped the the jacket potatos in silver foil and a towel, then put the chilli in a flask.

You could choose any hot filling you wished.
If you don't have a food flask wrap foil round a plastic container.

    A picnic? In winter?!!!!

    Soup.

Have you checked out Attic24 ?

Apart from posting brilliant crochet tutorials, she posts recipes and lovely pictures of the walks that they go on up in Yorkshire. Amongst those posts, she mentions what food and drink they either took with them, or bought in a lovely tea room or pub.
  • OoOh sounds good do you have a link? she sounds ideal:-)

If you have a food flask you could do a stew or hot pasta with a sauce, maybe with dumplings or garlic bread???

Sounds like a lovely idea, hope you enjoy it xx
