Hot dog sausages will keep hot in a flask. Heat them up in a pan than drain, put in flask and add boiling water. Take ready sliced and buttered rolls, place greaseproof paper between to stop them sticking, plus tomato ketchup. I have done this many times, they always stay piping hot.

The last hot picnic I did was jacket potatos with chilli con carni.

I wrapped the the jacket potatos in silver foil and a towel, then put the chilli in a flask.

You could choose any hot filling you wished.
If you don't have a food flask wrap foil round a plastic container.

Aww thanks never thought of soup as have summer on my mind...tis our wedding anniversary and we will picnic no matter what:-) will make som e goats cheese bread to go with it.....we are tough in Wales:-):j:T

If you have a food flask you could do a stew or hot pasta with a sauce, maybe with dumplings or garlic bread???
