    MG darling

I'm so sorry about the bank. But I was looking back at your earlier post and trying to understand the numbers

    You said
Right, this is not concentrating on the worst case scenario, but taking a bald and frank look at the facts (see yesterdays hedgehog post)

Currently my income from IS, CTC, CB and MIB is £280.54 per week.

If I go back to work - 16 plus hours per week at minmum wage then my income from all sources is £343.69.

So I will be £63.15 per week better off - of course that assumes I can actually pay myself £98 per week or so from the go-get. But I still have every penny of my "start-up" loan, and that will enable me to pay myself for 16 weeks - if I am not earning by then there will be serious questions asked.

Now that MIB as been halved I have the problem that there is nothing in the budget to pay back the bank the £330 per 4 weeks that they have been getting - so time to contact the solictor and see how we can negotiate repayments downwards for a while. Mind you with £63.14 x 4 weeks = £252.60 I am so very nearly on an even keel.

Is your existing MIB covering the whole amount you pay the bank of £330 every 4 weeks? If so, does that mean the shortfall is £165 every 4 weeks now that MIB has been halved? I'm sorry if these are nosy questions but it seems to me that if you DON'T go back to work that bank will be taking you back to court very soon. Doesn't that mean that NOT going back to work is actually the worst case scenario?

What do you need to have coming in from next week to keep the Black Horse from your door? That is the first number to focus on. Hopefully within a couple of months you will look back and wonder that it ever seemed a problem to make that much. The second number to focus on is how many months it will take you till you can walk into that branch and pay off the mortgage - and hopefully that number will shrink before your eyes once you are up and running
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!
  • Tescodealqueen - again, thanks for the offer. I will bear you in mind but as I said to PA & pania, I'm hoping that work e-mails will work their magic - but then again, you never know :D

Sorry misunderstood to think that they were organising internal collection. But the offer remains if needed:)

(((((((((MG)))))))))))) oh you poor lass. You WILL triumph though, and just keep concentrating on how jolly spiffing it'll feel to walk into that branch with all those pound coins. Hope you're feeling a little better now, and that you've managed some quiet time with your boys xx

How are you feeling other than that with only 8 days to go?? Positive, I hope!

And thanks to Mike and Olive and everyone else for the poster! :T

    xx
  • Hi everyone,

Just a quick post - MG, hope you have managed to collect your thoughts and work out how to deal with this hurdle.

OliveOyl - I am based in Newcastle for work and live in Jarrow so am ideally based for collections in Newcastle, Sunderland and south Tyneside. I have posted something on our intranet message board and contacted our comms team to request any further advice on spreading the word. Two local freecycle ads have been posted, awaiting approval and I am pestering all of my facebook pals tomorrow!

Once I get to work tomorrow I will print off some of Mike's posters and get them issued.

If anyone has any further suggestions I am more than happy to try a bit harder.

Can you please let us know what the plans are once we have collected our booty!!!

    Keep up the great work

I've had an offer of shirts from the freecycle ad I put up ... I thought it hadn't gone out, as the list says the first ad must be an "offer", not a "wanted", but I guess they let mine through because I wasn't asking for myself. Hurray!

MG - I've been off the thread for a few days, I've not been well, but I'm going to hunt back to see whats happened. Hope you're feeling a little bit better today

    Good morning MG and friends

There is a solution to every problem, no matter how thorny, and maybe after you've spoken to your mentors you may wish to pass the issue of the Horse bank over to the matrix. From what I've been hearing the banks are getting less and less flexible and more and more risk averse, and hence it is becoming more of an obstacle course for people with genuine talent and drive to get the help they need from them. But let's not let them put a spoke in your wheel.

Let us see if we can help with ideas, practicalities and input. I truly believe if we harness the combined brainpower, wisdom and goodwill in this Matrix that we can help you find a way forward.

    Hugs to you sweetheart,

If you have a talent, use it in every which way possible. Don't hoard it. Don't dole it out like a miser. Spend it lavishly like a millionaire intent on going broke.

MG...forget the banks, they clearly don't deserve you.

I'll invest in you and your plan, not a lot (ala Paul Daniels) but every little helps (ala montrous supermarket chain) :D

Hope you're feeling a bit better this morning MG - remember, get back to us soon so we can start working on how you are going to beat the Big Horse numpties xx

My news this morning is that I have resigned from my job. It's a long story, and not one that I can go into too much detail on here for various reasons, however, I will be starting my own diary again soon I think - had one before on DFW (albeit not strictly speaking in debt, but the lovely peeps were content to have me as a squatter!) and I think I need to regroup and refocus - I know from experience that a diary is a good way to do this.

I have been reading through the MD&M thread - currently at about the half way point and have just got to the bit where you are talking about childhood books. I was a voracious reader as a child - would read whatever was put in front of me, and still do really. I guess the books I really remember from then were "Alice", the "What Katy did" series, and "White Boots" and "Ballet Shoes" by Noel Streatfield. I ought to hunt down a copy of Ballet Shoes - I still have all the others!
