Advice please - which PAYG Handset?

Hi,
I'm hoping someone can give me some advice on my next PAYG mobile handset purchase. I'm not unduly fussed about which network to go for, but Tesco seem to have some excellent deals at the moment.
What I'm really concerned about is the handset. I've got a Nokia 6020 to replace, which I find very easy to use. This tempts me to consider the Nokia 6230i which I can get cheaply at the moment. I feel confident that I would find this phone easy to use, but I also feel that it looks very dated now.
My other choices would be the Motorola LZ or flip version (V3??!) These phones appeal to me as they look so sci fi with their thiness and slim keypad. However, I mainly use the phone for texting and worry that those slim keypads may not be so good for texting. Also, I owned a Motorola about 3 years ag o and found it very difficult to use. Are they any clearer in their interface now? Any advice from current owners of these 3 phones would be very much appreciated!
Thanks
Megan

The Motorola menu's and software has not changed for donkeys years, the only handset that Motorola do that has 'new' user interface, is the K1 KRZR.
The 6230i is a reliable, feature packed handset, my brother owns one and i had the 6230 previously. No Qualms at all!
If you are a texter, maybe O2 or Orange are the best to go for as they offer the text messaging freebies!CPW Retail

i had nothing but problems with 6230s when i had them. worth looking at the k1 if you like the sci-fi look of the latest motorolas, the old menu system on motorolas that is still on the v3 variants is a real love-it-or-hate-it type, some people love it, some hate it, don't know if k1 is available on payg yet but it looks expensive.
might be worth seeing if you can try some of the handsets you like the look of in the shops, things like size and shape of keys, interface and things like that are individual taste and each phone maker varies quite a bitthings arent the way they were before, you wouldnt even recognise me anymore- not that you knew me back thenMercilessKiller wrote: »BH is my best mate too, its ok
I trust BH even if he's from Manchester..

Agree that orange or O2 are the best networks to go with if you're looking for texts. They throw them in for free just by topping up. I'm with Orange & get 600 free texts just for topping up by £20 per month. I also have the 6230i, great keypad for texting.0

Thanks very much for your replies guys. There really is nothing better than a bit of consumer feedback. Sounds like I need to visit a shop to physically try some of these phones, but I expect the Nokia is best for me.
Thanks again!0 -
We have a motorola v220 and it's a pain in the neck trying to operate it- the buttons are just too close together, imho, and it's so easy to lose the text you wrote before sending it.The auto complete isn't great either compared to other payg phones I've had.Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

we have a v220 and the camera has failed, and it would need a software reload to fix it (and my mates orange moto v600's camera has also failed, and needs a software reload to fix the problem)0 -

I would consider looking at the K750i. I have a Nokia 6021 (same as 6020 but with Bluetooth but no camera) as my work phone and all previous work phones are Nokia, so I'm used to the menu. But I've used a K750i as my personal phone for the last year (now on a K800i) and found it very easy to swap between the two.
The K750i is a nice size phone and still looks good and it has a great camera plus MP3 player and RDS radio. Argos are doing them on O2 PAYG for £89.99 this weekend. They are locked to O2 but you can get them unlocked fro £10.0
