Wool or not wool carpets?

We visited the Tai Ping carpet factory in Hong Kong. As we entered the building, I remarked that the actual carpet we were walking on looked brand new. I asked. No, it's been down 25 years ! Pure wool. Vaccuummed every day. No stains, in spite of heavy traffic from all those visitors.
For our last house we bought Wilton pure wool carpets - second hand ! - and after OUR 25 years, THEY looked good as new. Just a tad faded where in direct sunlight.
We had no pets - but quite frequent visiting pets. Our youngest child was ten. You get what you pay for.0 -
I'm wondering if your cat's claws might get stuck on that. I'm thinking that's not suitable for pets. I also seem to remember that you can't use a vacuum that has a roller bristle part on that type of carpet, ie probably has to be a cylliner cleaner.
The carpet looks nice though, I like it!0 -
Just looked at the picture of the carpet you like and this sort of carpet isn't suitable with cats, they would absolutely love it!!! I'm sure you know what I meanNeed to sort my life out! :T0

That looks just like what I have on my stairs & landing & bedroom.
I've got cats, no problems & I use the Dyson (newest most powerful one) upright with beater bar:D
Looks great against the wood downstairs.0 -

I got mine in an independent carpet shop in Crawley, near County Beds. It was about £130 -
:rotfl:
Thanks, we are in Woking and looking around this area, which is quite expensive!
I would be happy if we could find that sort of price, but maybe we need to haggle a bit... we are going to an independent place tomorrow to ask for a quote, see what we can get.0 -

I went into one carpet shop on that little trading estate (there are 2) & said I had a budget of around £15 sq, they said they couldn't help me they didn't do anything that cheap:eek:0
