If you're running Windows XP, make sure Windows Messenger Service is turned off...
Click START and Control Panel
If your Control Panel shows the new style of tasks click on Performance and Maintenance and then on Administrative Tools.
If your Control Panel has the Classic style icons, double click Administrative Tools.
Double click Services icon.
Scroll down the right hand pane of the new window to Messenger.
Right click Messenger and click on Stop.
If Stop is greyed out then the service isn't running and you can close all the windows. This isn't your problem.
Otherwise, when the service has stopped, right click Messenger again and click on Properties.
Click the arrow on the Start up Type box and click on Disabled.
Click Apply and then OK and close the windows you opened.
See if this cures the problem. The Messenger Service allows other systems to bombard your PC with adverts and messages in pop-up browser windows and so is a prime suspect for this problem.0 -
I found that ewido sometimes "reaches parts other spyware programs can't" - or something.
Also, you may want to try a different browser - Opera / Firefox / etc..
or .. get an Apple - it (so far) doesn't have Adware / Spyware / Malware, and no viruses!

i downloaded AVG with ewido in it and run it, i will give it a go with messenger when i get home, does this relate to msn messenger at all?0

No, nothing to do with either MSN Messenger or Windows Messenger instant messaging programs. This is the Windows Messenger SERVICE.0
